I've been laughing so hard during the last one month. While some portion of it comes from my last row antics in classroom, the rest are mostly from watching Frasier. The sitcom just rocks. A brilliant concept supported by brilliant writing.
A divorced Psychiatrist - Frasier Crane moves from Boston to Seattle and starts hosting his radio show. His limping father (Martin Crane) moves in with him and then followed by his theraphist (Daphny) who is an eccentric english lady. They are often visited by Niles Crane, Frasier's brother who is also a psychiatrist and has a secret crush on Daphny.
While we are used to shows that are built around friends, Frasier comes out fresh with a family setting. The writing is some of the best you'll ever see. Niles is my favorite and he is brilliant with his long stretched sentences filled with multisyllable words. Martin has the best timing for comedy though. And that apartment is so beautiful with a great view that anyone would kill for. Apart from the comedy, it is those poignant moments among the Crane family members that takes the sitcom to the highest level.
My roommates would recollect my "ha ha ha" coming out of the closed door whenever I watch Seinfeld/F.R.I.E.N.D.S. The same is happening now at the odd hours in the morning. Only if someone was awake to "listen" to me..
I just started watching Seinfeld..It is really funny at times :)
ReplyDeleteSeinfeld is one of the funniest! Season 3 and 4 are pure classics. They have some of the best episodes of all time.
ReplyDeleteHi Thyagarajan, I am one of your seniors in L. This is to let you know that there is a full course in Harvard where nothing but a case on Frasier is discussed. The same case was discussed in the course "Strategic Business Negotiations" (taken by Prof. Himanshu Rai) which we had in 4th term. Did not know that the show was so good as you say it.
ReplyDeleteRegards,
Dheep.
@dheep,
ReplyDeletethis is certainly news to me. It is ironic that both the Crane brothers in Frasier had graduated from Harvard :)
