Beowulf rocks in IMAX 3D

After a lot of persuasion, my unfailing friends accepted to watch this movie with me :), the main reason being a discount in the ticket price. Well, it was worth the money.

Beowulf is a epic poem written centuries ago about a monster slayor, who comes to a cursed kingdom to kill a monster (of course!). He kills the monster and he claims that he killer its mother too. Then the king for what-so-ever reason commits suicide after handing over the crown to our hero. The hero finally kills one more monster, which turns out to be his own son and dies. bohooooo.... :(

It is the IMAX 3D effect that makes you watch the movie without any boredom. The effects are simply superb. The action sequences are shot with the 3D audience in mind and the outcome is terrific. You hit back your seat when a branch strikes you or when the arrows shower over you!

The movie is rated 'A' in india for three reasons 1. Our hero fights the monster in naked for some stupid reason of his own(though the camera shots are placed in such a way that the candles or spears or other actors hides our hero's package :) ) 2. Angelina Jolie as the monster's mothers comes.. ahem.. you know what! 3. Too much gore. If these things have been avoided this could have been a movie that you enjoy with your family. But alas, the director doesn't think so..

If you are a movie buff who appreciates new attemps, if you are in hyderabad which has the worlds largest IMAX 3D screen and ofcourse if you are over 18 years old watch it in IMAX 3D :-) It is really good.

P.S : I remember watching a movie with a similar name at a very shady theater in Hyderabad along with my friends and my office seniors. Oh god! it was pathetic. We unknowingly entered the theater since they had renamed the movie to 'Van Helsing 2' to attract the local crowd. I won't forget that experience nor will my roommate :)
